Construction at its Best - Celebrating Bilingualism in Construction

Qualifications Wales, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Coleg Gower Swansea and the NPTC Colleges Group are holding a 'Construction at its best’ event during the Urdd Eisteddfod 2025. The sector discussion will take place at 1100 on 29 May in Margam Park.

The session will draw attention to the importance of promoting Cymraeg in the construction sector, showing how bilingualism not only supports effective communication, but also expands opportunities for workers and apprentices throughout Wales. The event will be an opportunity to showcase successful collaboration between education institutions and professional bodies as well as what qualifications can offer, as well as studying qualifications through the medium of Welsh.

The event is part of the wider program of the Urdd Eisteddfod 2025, which is one of the largest cultural youth festivals in Europe, which celebrates creativity, music, culture and the language in a lively and welcoming way.

Ashok Ahir, Director of Communications and Engagement at Qualifications Wales, said:

"I am really looking forward to the discussion and to chairing this session. It is crucial that we ensure that young people in Wales have access to qualifications and training that reflect the needs of the sector and support the use of Cymraeg."

Everyone is welcome to join us for an inspiring session that gives a platform to Cymraeg in the workplace and showcases the opportunities available to young people in Wales in the construction field.

The event will be on the Swansea Gower College stand, 1100-1200. Light refreshments will be available.
