Exams are underway for GCSE learners
Exams begin today for some learners studying GCSE English Language, GCSE Mathematics – Numeracy, GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Welsh Language.
Qualifications Wales will oversee the exam series and monitor how grade boundaries are set and standards maintained.
As with any assessment series, grade boundaries can change to reflect differences in assessment difficulty. This means the number of marks needed for a particular grade is likely to vary between exam series, providing fairness for learners over time.
Information about entries for the November exam series will be published on the Qualifications Wales website on 5 December, and results published on 9 January 2025.
Qualifications Wales collaborates with Welsh Government and other partners to create the Power Up content hub, which provides revision resources and information to help learners get ready for their exams and assessments.
There is further grading information on the Qualifications Wales website and the University of Oxford has published a comprehensive report detailing the approach to grading GCSEs in Wales.
