We’re dedicated to expanding access to Welsh-medium qualifications and we’re excited to announce that the application window for the Welsh Language Support Grant 2025/26 is now open.
Recognised awarding bodies can submit applications from 13 January 2025 until midnight on 28 February 2025. Applications are now digital and must be completed through our Have Your Say platform. Funding focus
For 2025/26, our overarching priority for the Welsh Language Support Grant is to support regulated qualifications designed:
- for use by learners aged 14-19 on full-time funded programmes of learning and/or
- to be used on publicly funded apprenticeships.
While this is our area of focus, we also welcome applications for other regulated qualifications, particularly where there’s clear demand or need.
Dr. Alex Lovell, Qualifications Manager, said:
“We are proud to support the Welsh Government’s Cymraeg 2050 ambition for a million Welsh speakers, through our targeted Welsh-medium work. The Welsh Language Support Grant is a key initiative for delivering on the commitments of our Choice for Strategy and its aim of ensuring that learners can take qualifications through the language of their choice.
We look forward to building on the success of previous years and continuing to support awarding bodies in expanding their Welsh-medium qualification offer.”
