Comparability study of A level Mathematics

A study of the comparability of demand standards in A level Mathematics examination papers.

The aim of this study was to explore if there was any evidence to support the perception that WJEC’s AS and A level Mathematics question papers were substantially more demanding than those produced by other awarding bodies.

Mathematics subject experts analysed and compared thirty-three question papers produced by three awarding bodies: WJEC, AQA and Pearson.

Overall, the views of the subject experts involved in this study are that the AS and A level Mathematics question papers analysed are considered to be sufficiently comparable in terms of level of demand.
