Annual qualifications market report: academic year 2023 to 2024 in Wales

An annual report which summarises official statistics on the qualifications market in Wales for the academic year 2023 to 2024.

On 31 August 2024, there were 90 recognised awarding bodies in Wales, which is one less than at the same point in 2023.
3,619 approved or designated qualifications were available in the 2023 to 2024 academic year, a decrease of 1.8% compared to the previous year.
In the 2023 to 2024 academic year, 779,225 certificates were awarded for regulated qualifications in Wales, a 6.5% increase from the previous year.
WJEC was the awarding body with the largest market share, awarding 65.5% of all certificates, 1.7 percentage points lower than their market share in the previous year.
