Reviews of marking and moderation for GCSE, AS and A level: summer 2025
An annual release that presents data on the number of reviews of marking and moderation in Wales for GCSE, AS and A level qualifications.
Due to the cancellation of summer exams in 2020 and 2021, there is no reviews of marking data for these years.
Key Points:
- There were 6,820 GCSE reviews requested following the summer 2025 exam series. This is 2.7% higher than in summer 2024, when there were 6,640 reviews.
- 312,880 GCSE grades were issued in summer 2025. 1.4% of all GCSE grades awarded were challenged and 0.3% of all GCSE grades were changed.
- There were 2,235 reviews of marking for AS or A level assessments sat in the summer 2025 exam series. This represents an decrease of 11.3% compared to summer 2024.
- 72,775 AS and A level grades were issued in summer 2025, 2.2% of all AS and A level grades awarded were challenged and 0.3% were changed.
