Vocational and Other Qualifications Quarterly: Quarter 3 (July to September) 2025 for Wales

A quarterly release that presents data on vocational and other qualification certifications for Wales for the latest quarter

Revision note

This release was revised on 12 February 2025, after initial publication on 27 November 2025, as revised data was submitted by one awarding body after publication.

All sections of the release and data tables were affected by the revision, except for the essential skills Wales and approved vocational qualifications data. The revision only affects Q3 2025 figures.

The scale of the revision to total certificates is as follows:

Key Points:

136,450 certificates were awarded in quarter 3 of 2025. This is a 9.9% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024.
Between October 2024 and September 2025, 285,540 certificates were awarded, an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous year.
Compared to Q3 2024, 10 of the 15 sectors saw an increase in certificates in Q3 2025. The largest decrease was in ‘Preparation for Life and Work.
Compared to Q3 2024, 6 of the 10 levels saw an increase in certificates in Q3 2025. Level 1/2 qualifications saw the largest increase in the number of certificates.
